Jonathan Aner - Pianist
Mr. Aner has performed as a soloist with Israel's leading orchestras, including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under Zubin Mehta. He has won international prizes at the Città di Senigallia International Piano Competition in Italy, the Schubert International Competition, the Ben-Haim Competition and the Julius Katchen Award.
Described as “a chamber musician par excellence” (Frankfurter Rundschau) Jonathan Aner is a passionate chamber musician and a member of the Oberon Piano Trio. Mr. Aner is also a member of the Brillaner Duo with clarinetist Shirley Brill, and together with soprano Chen Reiss they form the Esprit Trio. He has collaborated with such leading artists as violists Tabea Zimmermann and Michael Tree (the Guarneri Quartet), and with the Borromeo and the Jerusalem String Quartets. As a former member of the internationally acclaimed Tel Aviv Trio, he has won prizes at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition in Australia, the Città di Trapani and the Vittorio Gui International Chamber Music Competitions in Italy, the Joseph Joachim and the Erst-Klassik Competitions in Germany, and the European Chamber Music Competition in France.
Mr. Aner performed recitals and chamber music concerts in such prestigious concert halls as the Berliner Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall, Auditorium du Louvre in Paris, Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Wallace Collection in London, Conde Duque in Madrid, Dom Muzyki in Moscow, Tivoli Hall in Copenhagen, in Southeast Asia, in Australia and in his native Israel. He has taken part in the Bergen, Schleswig-Holstein, “International Encounters,” IMS Prussia Cove, Ljubljana and Deutsche Grammophon’s “Yellow Lounge” International Festivals.
His recordings can be heard on numerous radio stations, including WQXR, BBC, France Musique, Radio Italia, ABC, NDR, SWR and Israel’s Voice of Music.
Mr. Aner is a graduate of the Musikhochschule Hannover where he studied with Professor Arie Vardi, of the Musikhochschule Lübeck as a student of Professor Konrad Elser, of the New England Conservatory in Boston and of the outstanding young musicians' program of the Jerusalem Music Centre. He currently studies historic keyboard instruments at the Musikhochschule Hannover under the tutelage of Professor Zvi Meniker. In addition, Jonathan Aner has worked closely with pianists Murray Perahia and András Schiff and has had master classes with world-renowned artists such as Leon Fleischer, Emanuel Ax, Bernard Greenhouse, Steven Isserlis, Sabine Meyer and Miriam Fried. He is one of the last young musicians who were privileged to work with the late Isaac Stern. In addition, Jonathan Aner is dedicated to coaching piano and chamber music master classes throughout the USA, Europe, Asia, Canada and Australia.
